Long Hill Bible Church was founded in April of 1998 in Waterbury, Connecticut, largely due to the efforts, leadership, and guidance of the founding pastor and his wife the Rev. Eugene and Mrs. Mary Davis. Along with the help of Charles L. Mazon, Rodney Parker, Linda Riddick-Barron, and Kevin D. Jones they committed themselves to the work. The name of this new work of the Lord was inspired by Pastor Davis’s desire to teach and preach the uncompromising word of the Lord. The initial sermon was preached at the Berkeley Warner Recreation Center, 277 Long Hill Rd. in Waterbury, CT. The Lord blessed the church to be able to secure the facility rent free. At that first service approximately 50 people attended and Charles L Mazon was the first person to join LHBC. In November of 1998 Pastor Davis established the official Board of Trustees: Harry W Morgan- Chairman .Linda Riddick-Baron- Co-Chairperson, Denise Patterson- Treasurer, Kevin Jones- Assistant Treasurer, and Marvin Leach- Book Keeper
The church received its charter and was incorporated in July of 1999. At the core of our ministry is Our Mission which is to lead all people to be SAVED, through serving, loving, evangelizing, and making disciples.
In the summer of 1999, Pastor Davis and a group of trustees began looking for property which would be used to build the new sanctuary. In July of 1999 and March of 2001 LHBC purchased land on Garden circle in Waterbury Ct., the parcel is approximately 3.42 acres of vacant land located along Warner Street and along Garden Circle. Long Hill Bible Church continued to grow as many changes took place, some very difficult, as the Lord began to mold and shape this new church body into His perfect will. Pastor Davis was bold yet loving as he continued to allow the Lord to use him to equip the saints for the work of ministry. In the winter of 2001 Rev. Rodney D Wade joined LHBC. He was appointed assistant pastor on Feb. 23, 2004 in that same year the Lord showed us that it was “time to build.” The church launch a church bond financing program and the members rallied behind the vision and over one short summer, the young church was able to raise enough money to start the work.
In October of 2005 LHBC broke ground on the new facility of the ministry. Lead by the efforts of Harry Morgan and George Payne construction on the project started in the summer of 2006. We give God the Glory for all of his marvelous works. LHBC has many ministries to meet the needs of the church and community at large which include our pre-Thanksgiving Dinner for the community, can food drives, and the youth back to school picnic. The youth of LHBC also volunteer at local homeless shelters. LHBC also has an active teaching ministry which includes ministries for both new and more mature members “to equip the saints to do the work of ministry.” In 2010 God once again showed himself awesome to this young ministry, as the lord placed on our hearts to “Press in, in 2010 Abiding in Prayer, Walking in Power, Fulfilling our Purpose, Possessing the land, Manifesting God’s Glory.” LHBC expanded the ministry through our new media tools which included a new website www.Longhillbc.org and the launch of Saved by Grace broadcasted on local television network Skye 13 (Waterbury, Ct and surrounding areas)
In September 2010 the Lord called Pastor Davis from labor to reward. We will always remember this great man of God who through faith and courage challenged God’s people “to love the lord with all of our might and lean not to our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge God and he will direct our path,” In September of 2010 Pastor Wade became Senior Pastor of LHBC and in this season of the church he has challenged us to “Take Care of business”, Take on, Take back, Take over.
The best way to do justice to all that’s happening at LHBC is to pay us a visit!
